Cokesbury appreciates the time and talents of our volunteers. If it is in your heart to serve the church, we have many opportunities for you. If you are interested in more information about any of these areas, please fill out the Contact Us form or call the church office.
Acolytes – Children 2nd grade and up may participate in our acolyte program. Our acolytes participate in our Sunday Worship Service by carrying the cross and the flame to the altar. Two acolytes participate each week.
Choir – Cokesbury has a dynamic choir that leads Cokesbury’s music with both traditional and contemporary hymns. Our choir practices every Wednesday night and participates in our Worship Service each Sunday.
Communion Servers – Communion servers assist with serving communion elements to the congregation during Worship Service on the first Sunday of each month.
Homebound Communion Team – Our Homebound Communion Team serves communion elements to the sick and homebound the Monday after the first Sunday of each month.
Congregational Health Care Ministries – Cokesbury has several opportunities for volunteers to serve the various health needs of our members. Volunteers are needed for our free blood pressure clinic, which takes place every fourth Sunday from 9:45 until 10:05 in the Old Kitchen Area. Visitors are also needed on an as-needed basis for our sick, homebound, and hospitalized members. Our Transportation Committee provides free transportation to and from doctor appointments, outpatient treatment, or hospital visits to our members.
Greeters – Cokesbury greeters are often the first impression of Cokesbury for members and visitors each Sunday morning. Being a greeter is a great way to bless those who attend Cokesbury services by welcoming them and providing assistance as necessary.
Newsletter Folders – Newsletter folders assist with the administrative needs of our church by preparing our monthly newsletter for mailing. Newsletter folders meet the last Wednesday of each month.
Nursery Workers – If you love children, serving our nursery is a great opportunity for you. Nursery workers are needed Sunday mornings during Sunday School and our Worship Service to care for children ages 0 through 2.
Prayer Team – Our Intercessory Prayer team prays for us every day in our Prayer Room. Our Prayer Warriors are always looking for volunteers who want to be blessed by spending one hour a week in the Prayer Room. We also have a telephone and email prayer chain.
Sunday School Leaders – Sunday School leaders bless Cokesbury children and adults alike. There are many opportunities to serve as Sunday School leaders for our various programs.
Ushers – Ushers assume an important role during our Worship Service. Each Sunday ushers assist members and visitors as needed and assist with receiving offerings.
